An engine warning light!

Just what i needed, having just come to the end of the worst run of bad luck i have ever had (or so i thought), up pops the engine management warning sign.

Had to drive into work (another day off would be pushing a P45 even closer) and it seems to be running fine!

Is therer anyone in the Oldham or south Manchester area with a code reader thingy that could make a very depressed Octy driver a little less depressed?

That';ll be an o2 sensor then...

my pressie off my octavia is a broken wire in the drivers door or where it goes into the car.none of the door controls work and only the driversdoor opens :'( its booked into the garage on wednesday

My Octy's xmas gift to me was a knackered roll FARB and split CV boot :(

When you say South Manchester, can you be a bit more specific? Depending on how specific, I may be able to help diagnose. Drop me a PM if you want.

Steve

This is why i love AA parts and labour warranty... just got my lambda replaced for £25 :hehe:

for Xmas I got a knackered front endon the Octy thanks to a pothole, a puncture in SWMBO's less than 3 day old tyres, a broken screen on my HTC Desire. BAH HUMBUG

An EML light driving home last night!!!:thumbdown:

For Christmas I got:

A knackered battery

An intermittently working alternator

A burnt out harness which goes from the alternator to the battery

:(

Are you sure you've got all three m8?? When my alternator cable went it also knackered up the fuse box on top of the battery, the alternator and battery were fine

I got -

another EML light for the same fault - coolant temp sensor - even though I replaced it already and cleared the code

a clunk from the front suspension

a squeal from the aux belt - either tensioner or alternator

a rattle from the front of the exhaust - sounds like a bolt rattling around in the downpipe or similar ( maybe knackered front box or cat.

Clearly a large bill coming my way - unless anyone can suggest any cheap fixes??

Bonfire, maybe?! :giggle: (only kidding!)

One dead coilpack,

One dying coilpack

and a broken breather pipe.

For New Year !!!

A charging light that has just come on - leading to the diecovery of the oil filler cap having blown off ( guilty, must not have tightened it up when I topped up oil when light came on just before christmas).

Hope this isn't an indication of the year to come !!

I got an engine management light as well during the snow :( but after a few days it vanished

Also got an infuriating tapping sound coming from behind the glovebox and the engine under tray flew off after being damaged in the snow on the A1 on HCristmas day

Add to that a sticky rear caliper that the garage say is u/s :(

Not quite Christmas but for new year I've got a slipping clutch and a fault on bank 2 lambda sensor! :'(

Maybe something behind Cat heatshieldemoticon-0148-yes.gif

Cat heatshield removed and its not a bolt or stone sadly. Next step - remove downpipe to check its clear or rattling.

nothing off my Octi but for New Year the wife's Octi has given me a broken coilpack to deal with.

Anyone any ideas how to extract the half of it that's still connected to the spark plug? :(
