Can't get the battery out, is it bolted in?

Featured Replies

I've disconnected the battery, and trying to remove it so I can charge it. I can't budge the damn thing, nor can I see where it is attached. My owners manual is in spanish, just for the battery section you understand, the rest of it is in english. So I downloaded the manual, and the english version just says don't remove the battery.

Any clues?

Have you unbolted the clamp at the bottom?

After pulling off the sides to the plastic cover I spotted that. Haven't got a socket set long enough to get down there.

Only way to remove it is to unbolt it

What part of the world are you in, I have plenty of socket extenders.

Christ just walked all the way to the other side of town to borrow a socket set from my dad, and it still isn't long enough. Well it is long enough, just there is a sodding great big pipe in the way so I cant get at the flaming thing.

Might have to leave the ****** in there and try charging it. I just wanted to avoid doing that outside as I'm sure the cold isn't doing it any good.

Can't remember if the layout of the 1.9 is much different but on the 2.0 you remove the top of the air cleaner and then just lift the top and the large diameter air pipe up out of the way. You can then get a conventional socket onto the battery clamp bolt quite easily.
