Brake Light Switch

Featured Replies

Afternoon all.

I've noticed I have a bit of an issue with the brake lights on my Mk1 Octy vRS. To keep it short and sweet, the brake light only engages when the brake it fully depressed, and then some. It's not ideal in winter when you may only be using a dab of brakes, and I don't like jarring them on when it's averaging around -5°C ootside.

I've had a search about and believe the brake switch to be a common issue. Am I right in saying the part number for the most recently revised item is: 1C0 945 511 A RDW?

The brakes themselves are in fine condition. The discs & pads were changed not too long ago, and all the lights illuminate correctly when you really hammer your toe down. Checked it on a VAGCOM and it's not flagging up any errors, so must be a dodgy switch coming to the end of it's life.

If someone could confirm the part number, I'll get one ordered straight away. At about £7 each, I'd be daft not to!

Cheers in advance,

Keith.

Don't know part number, but there are only 2 brake light switches, 2 pole or 4 pole. Just pull it out and check what you've got and order the same. 2 minute job.
