hi guys

my expansion tank light flashs in the morning

with a quick search seem to be the sensor inside playing up

so ive got to change the bottle but i hear u can change the expansion tank for one off a tt

but euro carparts website vrs and tt isted as same bottle

please can someone shed some light on this

Its probably the same bottle, but wont offer anything over the vRS one.

The bottom line is the TT has the same problem with the sensor as your car.

I thought the TT , Octy , Golf4 and A3 , ooh and Leon ones was all the same????

My 2005 vRS had a different expansion tank cap to my 2002 vRS. Is there any reson for this?

The 2002 one looks like this (This was also the one used on my AGN engine seat toledo):

Would the expansion tank sensor cause the EML to come on every day with the check coolant sensor and thermostat fault?? Debating replacing my header tank to see if it cures my repeated EML??

They just changed the design, all new ones supplied are the later type. And now black not blue. But all do the same thing.

I have already replaced the coolant temp sensor, which hasnt stopped the EML hence wondering if there was a second sensor in the header tank to try??

Yes , the Octy vRS has 2 sensors

A 4 pin green one and a 2 pin , grey IIRC

The 4 pin green one is part number 059 919 501A and the 2 pin one is 06A 919 501A IIRC

That is going back a couple of years though , old age creeps in :(

The 2 pin one agian , IIRC is for the secondrt air pump

But could both cause issues I would imagine

Did you reset the fault after replacing the sensor?

So you did the sensor and the fault is still there?

The vRS engine , the 1-8T AUQ engine is superb!!!!!

Yeah - reset the fault using OBD kit after replacing the green sensor - it came back on 2 days later - same fault - 12069 from memory - check CTS and thermostat. Reset it again and it came on a couple of days later. I bought one of the VCDS cables off ebay, ran it on the scan this morning and was the same fault - cleared the fault again now just waiting for it to come back on tomorrow!!
