Electrics down and no computer

Featured Replies

Driving back home this afternoon a series of problems began to occur with the car. Firstly after switching on the ignition there was no power with the heater controls, it did not illuminate and there was no reaction to any of the push button controls. When I started to drive I had to wind down the electric windows to stop the car steaming up, later on the windows failed to operate as well. Then the rev counter, temp gauge, fuel guage and speedometer stopped working but remained illuminated. The computer display then decided to give up too, but I did manage to get the car home when I discovered that I could not switch off my headlights . Eventually they did switch off on their own! When I tried to start the car again the engine keeps turning over but does not kick into life. Another problem is that about ten days ago the rear parking sensors gave up so this is all posibly related.

Not the best way to start off the new year, but is there anybody out there who might have any idea what is going on. When the bank holidays are all done I will be contacting Skoda as it is still under their waarranty until February.

Somebody needs to tell VAG that water and electricity don't mix.
