Octavia rear calipers

Hi All

new to the forum. have just tried to replace the rear pads and dics on my octavia 1998. the manual say you have to turn the piston clockwise to retract it, but it wont go back, it does move freely. any ideas what i am doing wrong???

Thanks Guys thats most helpful. will have a look at making a tool and see what happens.

If your stuck you can use a G clamp and a pair on slip nose pliars, but the correct tool does it far easier

agreed and for only 15 notes its soo much better gettin one of them tools, takes 2 mins to do and you know you wont break them.

where are you located? might be a nice member near with one they can lend you?

Take the cap off the brake fluid reservoir and keep a close eye on the level as you wind the pistons back (so it doesn't overflow). There is no need to open the bleed nipples.

As the brakes are self adjusting, it is extremely important that you pump the brakes before driving the car, as initially, the pads may not be in contact with the discs.
