Clicking noise in dash/heater

Featured Replies

Hi all

New to the forum but not to Skoda ownership.

I have a 2001 Octavia 1 Elegance TDi estate with 99k on the clock.

It has developed an irritating clicking noise in the dashboard, it is in the passenger side of the car in the heater box. The noise is a regular "click click click" and happens with the heater on or off and with the engine running and with the ignition on only. The interesting part is that the noise goes away at just over 20mph and does not come back until the car stops again.

Anyone got any good ideas?

Many thanks

Red

Just saw your post, I have a 2001 Octy Elegance, 128k, i have a very loud clicking sound also just developed behind the glove box. This also happens with the fan/heater on/off and with just the ignition on.

Mine did go away the first time it happened with a restart, now its there constantly. Interestingly it started after I swapped the battery from my 56 plate Saab 9-5 Tid as I hadnt started the Octy in a few weeks in the cold spell. I dont have an answer but thought I would add to this post......

Hi Briskodian

I removed the glove box last week and its definitley in there somehwhere!!

turned the ignition on and its clicks like crazy, about 5 - 10 clicks per second.

I went "caveman" on it and basically started thumping it, that changed it to 2 - 3 clicks in a short burst every 3 or 4 seconds.

I haven thad a chance yet to try and disasemble the unit due to work & weather!

But will keep going until i find out what the issue is.

Mine keeps clicking regardless of speed.

Cheers,

Room for one more?? :giggle: i have a 2001 octy vrs and mine has also recently started this annoying clicking sound from the glovebox area it sounds too, its doing my bloody head in and i only drive it at weekends!! looks like thats 3 of us with the optional clicking

Starting to really annoy me now, havent had a chance to get a proper investigation so dropping it to my usual mechanic.

PS has anyone removed any fuses to see if it stops?

My heating systems is still working fine and the heating direction to windows, feet etc... still works fine.

Cheers

Hi,

I dont know if youve solved this or not as I see it was a few months ago, but I noticed this fault mentioned on a site which listed known common faults on the Octy...

Fault, A clicking noise can be heard from the Climatronic system when the system is controlling the air-flow.

Cure, A simple adjustment with the dealer diagnostic system can cure this.

Not sure if its the same issue that you guys are suffering from but I thought it was worth a mention.

Bob.
