has anyone managed to connect their mobile to the bolero unit.

i am not very technical but can usually follow simple instructions.

manual tells you to press the phone button

all this seems to do is mute the music

You have got the bluetooth module as well haven't you? The Bolero itself does not have phone connectivity, it is used as the interface to the optional bluetooth module.

Without the bluetooth, pressing the phone button mutes the stereo...

Ben at Shark Performance (Shark_90) retrofits them or you could get a Fiscon unit. I'd probably go to Ben at Shark though as the latest VW handsfree works with most phones now whereas the old one didn't (it was rSAP only) which is why I have the Fiscon unit...

Other options are the Bury CC9060 or the Parrot Mki9200 handsfree kits.

Both are very good, Parrot is an excellent choice if you also want to add USB/iPod/iPhone for music.

Granted, they are both good units, but if you don't want additional displays/controllers on the dash then I'd go for the latest VW unit or a Fiscon. (They both cost more than the Parrot/Bury systems though)
