Castrol Edge 5W 30 that matches VW spec 504-507 or equivalent

I use this and its fine: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_498805_langId_-1_categoryId_165581

They do it in 2 litres as a top up for £15.99 too, well thats what it was before Mr Cameron had his wicked way

Given the choice - and there are plenty out there - I would use a 504.00/507.00 oil which has been approved by VW rather than one which 'meets the requirements of VW/Audi 504.00 and 507.00' - which isn't the same thing.

Of course it is the same thing...They are all oils that meet a required specification!

You don't really think they use the likes of Castrol when they service you car do you? They have big 20 Gallon drums of what is usually Quantum oil!

I disagree.............................they are normally 40 gallon drums. :giggle:

I have just today purchased a 1 litre container of 'carlube r' fully synthetic 5 w 30 (that meets the vw 504.00 & vw 507.00 req) from a local motor factor using my trade account & it still cost me £9. :'( im using that to top up my 58 plate tfsi octy.

Mine has been serviced every 10k & will continue to be serviced every 10k whilst in my ownership, the oil i purchased is the long life stuff which should be ok for top up but when i buy some more i will get some of the quantum platinum.
