Vibrating fabia speakers after new Head unit

Featured Replies

I have just replaced my ageing sony head unit with a new JVC KD-r811, and I am really pleased with it, apart form the fact i now seem to have a vibration from the drivers side tweeter in the pillar, or it could be the door speaker? Any idea what would cause this? Is it just coincidence or something to do with the new HU? Both have the same max output of 4 x 50w.....

Is there anything i can do to improve this or will i need new tweeters?

As far as I am aware the rest of the audio set up is pretty standard, 2 front tweeters, 2 door speakers, 2 rear tweeters and 2 main rear speakers.

Funnily enough i've just suffered the same problem, after changing to the R711 (same as yours but the display doesn't change colours) it blew the passenger side woofer.

If you can't stop the vibrating by pressure on the doorcard, take it off and check the speaker - if its anything like mine it will have split the foam around the cone. Luckly for me i was planning on upgrading my sound system anyway (the HU was the first step).

That's very strange, I'm pretty sure mine is coming from the tweeter? I wonder if it is the unit that has caused it, I've not had it particularly loud. What speakers are you planning to upgrade to? It's something I would consider doing but on a limited budget.

Scrap that, i had a more careful listen just now, and it is the actual speaker in the door. Sure enough, when i put pressure on the door card it stops the vibration. What does this indicate?

depends how hard you are pushing, there's about a 25mm gap between the speaker cone and the doorcard - if the speaker had blown you would actually need to hold the cone to stop the vibrations. There's a possibiltiy that its just your doorcard that is loose, or there is something inside it that is rattling around.

Unfortunatly the only way to be certain is to take the doorcard off and visually inspect the speaker itself.

ok, now you say that, It makes sense, i had the door card off not so long ago as I had a problem with my door locks.... Didn't have to push it in far, so this could be the cause of the problem!
