Driving a DSG in Slippery Conditions

Featured Replies

Having only driven manuals on snow and ice what's the best way to drive a DSG box in slippery conditions? I'm almost 90% certain I'll go for a new vRS estate to replace my current vRS when the time comes but don't want to have to abandon it when it gets a bit icy.

i have only had mine for 6 weeks so i am not an authority by any means.

when it gets slippy i just put it onto tiptronic and use the paddles.

that way i get to decide which gear i need to be in as the auto is all over the place.

Winter tyres

easier. you dont even need the accelerator to pull away. put it in drive, release the foot brake and the car will move forward under its own steam. and once your moving as said above, get up the gears and let the torque pull her along until your moving OK

But winter tyres are whats important

Winter tyres

What winter tyres do you have? Are they on a spare set of the standard 17" alloys, or do you have smaller wheels? And how much were they?

Sorry for the questions, but I'm thinking about a Fabia vRS, but one of the minuses is I would want a set of winter tyres/wheels, but I've not seen any for a 17"/40 profile wheel.

you can get 205/45/17's (for my punto) http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m11b0s649p0 I'm not sure what size is on the vRS...
