HELP no reversing lights!

Featured Replies

Hello everyone. I have a skoda fabia classic and the reversing lights have stopped working. I have checked both the fuse and the bulbs and they seem fine. The funny thing is I get a voltage reading when I test it if no bulbs are in the light cluster but a reading of zero when a bulb is in on either the right or left side this is when the car is engaged in reverse and the engine on. I am no expert and would like some help with this issue. THANKS

Change the bulbs, They may look OK but they could be dead, If this doesn't work it'll point towards the switch. Which IIRC is on the gearbox.

Good luck! And welcome to the siteemoticon-0148-yes.gif

Find the switch on the box and pull the plug off, bridge the connectors out with a bit of wire or a paperclip then turn the ignition on, if they come on it's the switch.

Thanks for the reply. I have actually tried changing the bulbs so I think I can rule that out. Where on the gearbox is the switch ? Is it easy to find and then will it need replacing ?? Thanks very much !

I finally got round to fixing my problem. Had to wait for the warm weather lol. It was the reversing switch. I found it , and got to it from underneath the car after checking all the other suspects from the top of the car, it had to be the last one I tried. Bought a new reversing switch , fitted it and hey presto my reversing lights work again. Oh by the way the method of bridging the connector helped no end , it showed the switch was at fault.
