FARB bushes

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, i have an 05' plate vRS (MK1)

I am looking to upgrade my front anti roll bar bushes myself and have decided to buy the ones from superpro http://www.priracing.com/product.php/1586/304/vag---front---anti-roll-bar-to-chassis-bushes (19MM)

I have a few questions,

1. Do i need the new style mount clamp like this http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=263 or will the one's on my car be the same design?

2. Do i need to lubricate the bush and if so do i lubricate the hole!, around the outside or both?

3. Do i need new bolts?

4. Will my car have the plastic sleeves?

Kind regards, Neil.

My 2004 vRS has had the new style clamps from new

I used copper grease to lube them. Inside and out.

I used the original bolts with no issues.

Mine had the plastic sleeves but they creaked horribly so I removed them and re-fitted the 19mm Super Pro bushes and they've been perfect for about 12 months now.

This is useful:

Does'nt the bar shrink down to 17mm without the sleeves? (i.e. the true diameter?)

Thanks Rob,

Did you encounter the problem of using the same bolt? ie won't reach the thread.

Neil.

Neil.

I did a how to guide on this somewhere on the site.

Will try and find it. But one tip is that when fitting a new bush screw in with a longer bolt as this will compress the bush into the bracket and seat it in place without you having to press and injure yourself using std bolt that is very tight to fit. Then remove the longer bolt and refit the std one back in. There are not strectch bolts so should be ok to reuse. I would place some screw locking compund to be safe that it does not vibrate loose.

Yes, you need a 25mm bolt to do this.
