water ingress and washer pipes

Featured Replies

I am a new member but have been reading the forum postings for some time.

The problem is water in the front passenger area. It seems to be coming down behind the foam soundproofing. I am guessing a connection with the washer system (rear screen?) because the wet area smells of screen washer additive!

My car is 2005 Octavia tdi - pollen filter above passenger's feet. I have checked drainage from plenum chamber and that seems to be ok although I did have to clean out behind the wheel arch cover on the passenger side. The water ingress has continued after I did that cleaning.

Can anyone help? Maybe someone knows the route of the rear screen washer pipe?

Thanks.

The rear washer pipe runs at the back of the dash and is taped into the wiring loom and sorry to tell you this but they do split and leak, if its definately screen wash and its leaking into the passangers foot well then its a dash out and repair the split pipe.Skoda do a proper repair joint for this type of repair.

Thanks for the reply - I can't say that I'm thrilled! Sounds like a big/expensive job. I guess that a dash out takes some time. Is there a specialpart number for the repair joint?

I have finally followed this up.

A bit of studying led me to believe the leak from the rear washer pipe was likely to be where the wiring loom runs down the left hand side of the passenger footwell.

Just found the leak this morning - a split in the smooth end of the corrugated pipe as it connects to the smooth pipe running to the rear of the car. The split is in the bit of pipe which is forced over the joiner. Has it been like this since the car was built?

Question is how do I get a good repair to this? I am left with only a short smooth bit at the end of the corrugated pipe - I don't want to try to force the joiner in as I guess this might cause another split.

Anyone got any ideas?
