Hey guys,

Ok, so i've found a few guides on here and also rob's tech guide on pimpmyskoda but i've bought some "glowshift" gauges and im still confused on which wires to get the power from.

Right, my gauges come with wiring looms:

Red - (12v Ignition (switched) Source (+)

Black - Vehicle ground (-)

Yellow - 12v Constant (unswitched) source (+)

Green - Input, (oil pressure sender, oxygen sender etc etc)

Now basically i want to have the gauges lit when i have the lights on, and off when the lights are off.

I'm assuming i need to tap into the back of the stereo harness's YELLOW wire for the "yellow 12v constant (unswitched)", black wire for the earth and the 12v ignition to which wire on the headlight switch? (bare in mind i want them to come on with the headlights).

Normally an orange wire on the stereo loom for illumination. If not, tap into the sidelight feed from the rear of the light switch.

Really? is it a 12v source tho? I dont have a multimeter to hand. Left it at work. Doh.

When I did my w8 mod, I soldered onto the back of the headlight switch, but realised I could have just as easily sourced my 12v +ve feed from the glovebox light, as that gets power when the sidelights are turned on.

If you connect the illumination feed to the glovebox light the gauges will not dim with the rest of the instruments if you adjust the rheostat. Not sure if the ashtray lamp dims though.

Sorted it now guys, thanks everyone for their help. They look wicked.

Decided to go for the glove box bulb, tapped it off there for the switched live.
