Samsung HW-C500 5.1 AV Receiver HDMI 1.4 3D compatible - SOLD

Featured Replies

I've managed to get hold of a slightly updated receiver, so my almost new current one is up for sale.

It's a Samsung HW-C500. All the usual stuff e.g. Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS, optical/coax/component/composite inputs etc. Has 4 HDMI ports v1.4 so is compatible with 3D TVs. Perfect for other children like me with lots of HDMI toys under the TV :)

More info and pics here: http://www.amazon.co...r/dp/B003KZK7XC

Comes with remote control, iPod docking station and microphone which auto calibrates the sound level of each speaker.

3 months old in pristing condition.

£130 - payment by Paypal gift or cash on collection.

Located in Bristol (eves weekends) or Swindon (days).

No postage on this one I'm afraid.

Yup - that was January 2011 :)

Do yourself a favour and give this model a miss though.

How good.....or bad is it?

For the price, the spec was amazing. Let down however by poor sound quality (hiss seemed to come from the rear surround speakers) and the software was simply full of bugs.

Example: You get the thing fully configured (I bought this when I switched everything over to HDMI including Audio) e.g. the 'DVD' input uses HDMI 1 etc - then the amp would simply forget the settings when the power was switched off and on again, so on selecting 'DVD' input on the AMP you'd be stuck with a black screen and the AMP expecting a composite signal or something - really annoying. I found other people with the same issue so it wasn't just me being stupid :)

All well in the end - I bought a Yamaha RXV667 which was more than double the price but is staggeringly good. Get what you pays for.

Lol, think you might need to mark this as 'SOLD' and lock the thread now ;)
