Drivers side seatbelt

Featured Replies

Drivers seatbelt is not retracting (or retracting very very slowly).

Can anybody here advise on how best to remove trim panels on pillar to get access to seatbelt reel?

I really don't want to just randomly pull at pieces of trim without knowing what's what!

Pics would be extremely useful too.

Thanks for any advice.

Pull the seatbelt all the way out and clean it with furniture polish/a car dash cleaner containing silicone. This should get it reeling back in again.

If you really want to remove the trim, I can't remember if the top or lower B pillar trim has to come off first, but I do know that the lower B pillar trims are quite difficult to remove and consequently easy to break, but do not cost much to replace new from a dealer.

A seatbelt reel would be expensive as they contain pre-tensioners.

Thanks anewman, I'll try the polish, bizarrely the belt has a twist in it even though the lower anchor point is fixed (cannot be rotated, which is usually what causes a twist) so I reckon I'll still need to get panels off to have a gander.

If its twisted the belt as been pulled over a folded section, you need to straighten it out.

Not with ya, what do you mean over a folded section?
