Aftermarket Parking Sensors - FL vRS

Featured Replies

Got some cheap Parking Sensors the other month and finally got round to fitting them. With the help of another member on this thread:

I fitted them today and took an hour.

The scarey bit was drilling the holes.

Marked up the bumper using a tape measure and a wax crayon.

Carefully drilled each hole in turn, fed the sensors through the holes then up through a grommet in side of the spare tyre well.

All four wires then fed up under and the trim behind the passenger side light cluster. Took off one of the nuts to the light cluster and sanded back to the metal for the ground wire. Wrapped the wire around it and placed the nut back on.

Connected all sockets to the control unit.

To find the correct reverse light wire I took out the bulb panel. The wire I needed was the third one, to find it put the ignition on, place it in reverse and touch the red control unit wire to each of the wires in the connector. looking at the other side of the bulb panel I could see the reverse light lit up. so could work out it was the third one.

Once this was found I zip tied and taped up all loose wires. I used a snap lock connector to connect the red wire to the reverse light.

I will take some other piccies when its lighter.

Top Tip - some electrical tape over the buzzer - makes it less harsh.

Anyhoo - photies:

You're a brave man!!

I did that on my wife's car - drilling though the bumper is the most nerve wrecking thing I've done.

Looks good - and i agree about the tape - the cheap kits tend to be very shrill.

Nice job!! ;)

Looks good. Did you have to get them painted or where they white to start with...?

They came in the white colour.

I can thoroughly recommend them, easy to fit and are doing the job, I was pleased how thin they were when looking down onto them. The octy isn't the easiest car to stick into tight or sometimes even big spaces. The amount of times i have got out of the car and been 3 feet from the rear of the space.

:)
