Which SD card...

Featured Replies

I'm trying to get a feel for which SD cards people are using. My Superb is due to be built NEXT WEEK :D and I'd like to get a black SDHC card which is quick enough for smooth operation in the Columbus unit, at a reasonable price.

So, what's everyone using... Class 2, Class 4, Class 6... Class 10 (surely that's over the top for mp3's)

I've also noticed some SDHC cards printed as being suitable for HD video... I guess there is no real difference?

I've seen some pretty strange file structures, and also threads which suggest a regular directory set up works too. I was thinking of simply using Artist/Album/Track although I don't normally use playlists... do these make a difference?

Cheers all

Samsung do a range of shock, water and magnet proof SDHC cards of various capacities and speed. I bought a class 4 4gb to put in a memory stick adapter for my JVC USB headunit for about a tenner off play.com last year. Plenty fast enough for MP3 and added resistance to the elements.

No need to go ott on the speed as a class 2 will be ok for reading. Depends on how fast you want to write though?

I use a folder per album and your Columbus won't have the reading issues that the first Bolero's had.

Thanks.. I've seen a couple of PNY 8gb Class 4 cards for about £15... and they're black... should do the trick nicely.

Thanks for the info re: directories nothing like keeping it nice and simple :)

I bought 16GB cards from Amazon for £13 or so.

I think 16GB is the best value at the moment, 32GB seem to be more than double the price.
