How to store a laptop chip?

Featured Replies

I have a spare Celeron M chip I would like to keep for spare parts. What is the best way to store it? I assume the idea is to avoid static? Could I surround it in bubble and tape up?

Seal it in an anti-static bag first and then wrap the bubble wrap around that. Or see if a local computer shop can sort you out with an empty box - if they do builds they'll have loads of empty boxes and bits of anti-static foam kicking around.

I think you can get anti-static bags from Maplin

Don't use bubble-wrap. Go to Maplin.

Found a big anti-static bag so shall just put it in that and keep with the other spare parts. Hopefully I will never need to use any of them, but you never know....

You can wrap them in foil - does the same job

lol

whats the worry I just chuck them all in a box then curse myself when I need one and the pins are bent.

Long nose pliers are awesome
