Hi Folks -- I know this will sound a bit naive, but whatever I do, I can't get a regular cd to copy into hdd. I fact I can't get the HDD panel to become " active ". I'm sure it's just me, but any step by step help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -- killie97

Simple pimple - you cannot copy a CD in the way you describe as the unit will not handle the files (see the manual).

You need to rip the tunes as mp3 files (Windows Media Player will do that, as well as several other dedicated programmes), then copy them over - usually by using the SD Card slot, as it saves burning a CD. Turn the volume right off when you do, because - for some reason - it seems to make the transfer quicker. HTH :)

True, you must copy the CD's as mp3 format, or in Windows Media Player(WMP) speak, as data CD's. In WMP click on the tab marked by the triangle just below burn, in the window that opens click on the Data CD or DVD line and then close the window and drag your music over to the burning box. Alternatively get an adapter so you can plug a SD card into a USB port and then copy and paste all your music onto the SD card and play from that in your Columbus or transfer onto the HDD.

Hope That Helps.

Ian

Ray, the transfer is quicker if you turn the sound off as that stops the playback altogether so all the computing power in the Columbus is used to download the music onto the HDD

Thanks very much Ray. Guess I'll be busy loading up the music. Much appreciated -- K.
