Glovebox rattle ?

Featured Replies

I had a rattle in the cabin somewhere around the glovebox about three years back and found the solution on here.

Recently. I had this occur again at around 1500rpm but could not remember the fix or find it on a search here.

My wife hunted around whilst I was driving but to no avail. Then I touched the handbrake accidentally and the noise disappeared - and my memory returned.

The handbrake button can vibrate and the noise seems to be coming from the glovebox or dashboard.

The fix is easy - just run some light oil or similar down and around the handbrake button. The oil acts as a damper fluid. I used some of the Quantum Q-Pro Maintenance Spray with PTFE that VAG and Skoda garages leave in the car after a full service.

If you have a rattle you can't find, check the handbrake push-button!
