Hi all,

As the title really. Went to open the bonnet this morning to check oil and top up washer bottle, and nothing happened. The release lever is a bit floppy so it seems the cable's loose. Also tried pulling the lever in the grille, pushing the bonnet down in case it wasn't closed properly, but no luck.

Any ideas anyone, or is it a dealer job?

Check that the release lever hasn't come apart as these do tend to fall off from time to time. They clip back together fairly easily.

Agree with Moley - the "splines" in the bonnet release handle round off fairly easily . A new handle should fix it .

There is a join in the cable just above the headlamp and these come apart. Normally take the right front wheel off and arch liner out and reach through and pull it. Just need to hook it back together again and wrap a cable tie around it to stop it popping open again.

Thanks for the replies. The handle seems fine, so I assume it's the cable. Since its still in warranty I can't be bothered to get my hands dirty so it's going into the dealers on Wednesday.

Just had a call from the dealer - the problem is a jammed bonnet catch and they can't get it open unless they cut a hole in the grille to get access to it! Theefore they are going to do that today, fix the bonnet catch, then order me up a new grille and fit that tomorrow!
