Fabia vRS to Octy vRS

Featured Replies

In a few weeks im swapping my Fabia vRS and getting an Octavia vRS MK2 PFL 2.0tfsi. (more info here)

Never really known too much about the Octavia, just wondering if there are any commong problems like the Fabia? i.e. console bushes wearing easy, rear leaky doors.

Also the Fabia after a remap seems to go through turbo's for fun, i mean literally you see a new thread on them weekly. If i were to remap the Octavia can they handle a Stage 1 map comfortably?

Thanks in advance,

Danny

Rear door leaks aren't unknown. But I'd say a damn site less common than on the Fabia.

Check http://www.octavia-vrs.com - a useful resource and good for guides, as you're planning on a Columbus fitting

TFSi turbo is pretty strong - not heard of many issues. 235ish on a stage-1 and it goes very nicely. Fuel/tax/insurance will be the things you'll definitely see change! But I'm sure you're aware/prepared for that. Will be £235/yr tax on a pre-FL TFSi these days....

They're good fun though, and drive well out of the box IMO. I was more impressed by them in std form compared with the Fab vRS 'out of the box', for example. And the interior and fit/finish is a decent step up too.

You're clearly going to mod (I'd guess ;)) so wheels (I see it's on 17" Zeniths) might be on the cards. Suspension does improve with the Eibach springs (or coilovers, if chosen carefully) - plus rear ARB. And maybe the WALK too. That should keep you busy and interested....

Enjoy B)

Thanks for the useful reply Steve!

Yeh the columbus system is somthing ive already been eyeing up! and if the turbo is capable of handling a remap comfortably then thats probably on the cards too, as for messing with suspension, I think im going to just enjoy the standard side of things and appreciate comfort again being as my Fab is far too stiff and low lol. May consider cruise in the near future also as I would miss that.

 Thanks again.

You're very welcome. I hope you enjoy the upgrade :D

Loads of info in this section obviously, as the model's been round long enough. So anything you've got planned should hopefully have been done already, so advice is available

I always reckoned the std suspension was pretty decent. As such I never touched it on my TFSI. But like anything, over a longer term you'll get used to it and maybe spot where you'd like improvements or upgrades. And then there's more than enough options available...

Remember to pop over to the NW meet if you can too - doesn't look *too* far from you. Usually a fair few Mk2s of different setups for you to look at :)

Cheers,

Steve

Cheers Steve!

Yeh its not too bad. I just cant wait to get my hands on it now, although I did some taxi-ing in it the other night, dropping my parents off n picking them up, covered about 50 miles id say and used a 1/4 tank, does that seem normal? Driving nice its getting about 29mpg?

Sounds about right to me. I used to get 28-30 in mixed driving. Upto 37/38MPG on a 70-75 m/way run. Dropped to about 32-33 at 80-85.

Mines revo stg1 and drives perfect , its now on weitec suspension , not coilovers , and has front and rear anti roll bars uprated and its bloody brilliant , the arbs are a must to contro lthe understeer but other than that the rest is an option , the revo is brilliant tho as the torque increase is very satisfying , come to the meet and i'll take you out in it.
