vibration through car?Known Problem?

Featured Replies

Hello! My car has this last week started to have a vibration through the car. The best way i can describe it is,you know when you put it in a to higher gear too soon its like that!

You drive along and until you get like higher than 2000rpm its really annoying unless you drive every where in 2nd gear lol.

Is there a common issue with engine mounts etc? There is no knocks etc and drives fine. Im finding this hard to describe!

I have this week fitted the cupra console bushes but i cant see this being related?

I work in a garage but on fords so dont know any common issues with these fabias, and have never come across this before nor has any body at work.

Thanks Damien.

Dog bone mount issue maybe?

The ibiza cupra bushes caused more vibration when fitted to mine. It dint make it undriveable though. as above dog bone mount worn out. Get it up in the air, get underneath and try and rock the engine back and forth if the dog bone mount is worn you will see big movement in the bush

hi i have this morning removed and checked the dog bone mount and seems ok even my girlfriend has noticed it lol!its all below 2000rpm,how about the flywheel being seized?causing the vibrations?

how can the flywheel be seized? its turns when the engine turns..

how can the flywheel be seized? its turns when the engine turns..

Siezed DMF? = SMF?

Does it sound like a Bag of nails in a cement mixer when you are at idle with your foot off the clutch pedel?

Had my bushes replaced with the cupra ones last week and straight away I noticed the vibration.

They are much firmer and gives you much more feel of the car!

The old ones were way to spongy and soft.

There will be a difference in feel of the car after fitting something better other wise what's the point of putting better ones in if you can't feel the difference.

Signs of DMF failure I'm afraid. You've been changing gear too early.

iv been out with our master tech at work and hes still not sure lol. Theres no bangs etc like common faults of a flywheel, and gear selection is fine and drive spot on too. It dosnt do it went coasting out off gear etc only with power applied.

Once you get to 1700rpm it goes away, our master tech said change the dog bone mount first then i guess it could be the flywheel if that dosnt fix it.

The syptoms of the vibration are just like changing gear too soon lol! but iv done 10,000 miles since september and its only just started. Il see how it goes, iwas thinking of selling it but now this has happened i dont want spend all that money and sell it! wounder if i sell it cheap mentioning the flywheel!

I have a love hate relationship with this car one min i love it and then hate, and iv just done paint correction so its looking spot on at the mo to.........

my flywheel was badly worn and even then it dint produce a vibration and as for the 'flywheel seized' remark LOL.

a good test of flywheel is to have the car in neutral depress clutch pedal and slowly bring it up, if the flywheel is beginning to fail you will start hearing a rattling noise (should be used to failing flywheels working on ford diesels  )

i still think its just the hardness of ibiza cupra console bushes i noticed the difference straight away see if there is a member near you who has them fitted aswell, take a ride in each others cars see what compares

It's the cupra bushes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fit the original fabia bushes back on and the vibration will go!!!! (Don't really)

But that's how certain I know it' s the cupra bushes.

lol,how do i search people local to me? i guess it isnt the flywheel then? your correct thats what we do fords, twice had seized flywheel.

As for the bushes woudnt it do it all the time? because if you drive at 55mph in 6th and apply throttle it does it and dip the cluth or lift off it goes or asi said clears atr 1700rpm, woudnt the bushes make it do it all the time?

I think best bet is to go out with some one with bushes fitted!

Thanks guys for the help.

Bushes. Get them sorted as the vibration will get worse.

I learned the hard way as my wife was screaming down the phone asking why the car was vibrating like crazy at 70mph...

I noticed the same when I fitted my cupra bushes.

its a solid bush so the car will vibrate more as the softer bush was taking up the vibration. its a trade off fitting them, you get better feel for the car, they last a lot longer, the down side is the vibration you will get used to it. ive just fitted powerflex bushes on front wishbone front bushes, arb and super pro dog done mount. same thing for me the ride is harder and it vibrates more but i wont be replacing them in foreseeable future and its sorted the handling a treat.

as for seeing who is close to you. start a topic explaining your problem and why you wantt he ride most members on here will be helpful.
