How to get more power out of diesels?

Featured Replies

Hi, I've got a Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI PD 140bhp which I'll be honest, I love it, but its just not quite as quick as it could be. What could I do to increase power and acceleration??? Any advice please feel free to let me know no matter how bigger or smalled difference it could be. Thank You :)

if its a 1.9 it wont be 140 to start with only the 2.0's come in 140 guise, remap would be best option loads of companys on here do it, i recommend Shark Performance personally

As Trevor says. Remap will transform your car.

You can get a custom made remap specifically for your car for

under £300 and it will potentially get you another 25% more power.

You'll notice the difference thats for sure. UNIT 18 (site sponsor)

is well recommended for this kind of work and is worth the drive out.

more air, more fuel. SOrted

Jason! You know perfectly well that the correct answer is "Power costs. How fast can you afford to go?" ;)

For the OP:-

Seriously, find out which engine you actually have. As Grr666 says, you could be getting ~25% more (actually typically 30bhp on most 1.9s, up to 50 on the PD130) from a remap, and after that see my para 1. Jason's "mongrel" is running nearly as much power as the SEAT Leon WRC diesels, and we don't (any of us) talk about how much he spent (other than less than SEAT did).

For me if I wanted a fast Octavia diesel, it would have to be an L&K as a good starting point :)
