High Brake Light not working properly

Featured Replies

The high brake light on my back door is not working properly (2003 1.2 HTP combi). A couple of lamps on either side of the unit are lighting up but none in the middle. They are also not very bright. Left and Right brake lights are working fine.

Changed the brake light switch but made no difference. Would this cause a fault light on the dashboard? Does the whole unit need to be replaced????

Also the rear passenger door has deadlocked.....tapping around the lock while trying to open the door has not worked...So I guess it is time to get in to the door and break the lock.

Any ideas would help.

Thanks

Eddie

My LED brake light went faulty, one of the led's blew. It did sound and light the light out warning light on the dash. I got my local Seat dealer to replace the unit, it didn't cost that much (think it was roughly £40 fitted). Hope that helps.

The high level brake light is LED, so there are no bulbs to replace. The whole unit needs to be replaced. If less than 50% of the LEDs are working, it is an MOT fail.

Fitted new brake light and all is now working fine.

Only took a couple of minutes to do.

Lucky you, the 9N Polos use small flangeless bulbs, the light to body weather seal fails, rusts through the supply bus bars and the light fails - it needs the panel removed from the tailgate to sort this out - and a new light fitting if its rusted up too much!
