Head Unit advice

Featured Replies

I know you guys have probably answered this question a billion times but i'm looking for a new head unit but have a fairly low budget, I have a 2005 Octy VRS and have that amazing cassette player currently installed. I've been looking through Ebay at some of the 170+ double din sat navs and they seem like amazing value for money... this one for example http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TD716G-7-CAR-DOUBLE-2-DIN-DVD-PLAYER-GPS-BLUETOOTH-NAV-/370489316041?pt=UK_Audio_TV_Electronics_In_Car_Entertainment_GPS_In_Car_Audio_Players_PP&hash=item5642e252c9

I am a newbie when it comes to replacing stereos and such, I managed to put a cd player in my old car but with the adapter wire it was pretty much plug in and play. Would this kinda thing require professional installation and does any have any horror stories about these that will make me do the sensible thing and go to halfords and buy/have them install a basic CD player.

Thanks in advance for any advice given

-James

With these cheap chinese headunits, you usually get what you pay for. Sadly that means poor quality audio and user interface. Notice how there are no pictures of the unit working, other than some photoshopped on DVD film studio logo, so I suspect this is another poor example.

Stick to a good quality single din unit, you can get a great quality unit for the price of that cheapo chinese one.
