Help trying to fix a clunking noise from driver side

Featured Replies

I have had this noise which is like slight knock / clunk / rumble sound which i get only when i am pulling away from stand still or very slow moving then pull away.

I thought it was drive shaft.

I have ruled out that after changing it yesterday and issue still there :(

Drop links are nearly new and i tested them, also would feel those when i am moving along if they were gone.

ARB is nearly new with Superpro bushes so kinda rule that out.

What i did notice is that with drivers side wheel off. I could pick up disc /hub asm and get upwards movement on the suspension strut /shock asm. i.e it allows a small travel upwards without much shock rebound/resistance. These are my Weitec coil overs.

Maybe when pulling away, as there is torque in the engine when shock asm is dealing with the road surface the knocking is the slack in the shock travel.??

But also would of thought that would be repeated moving along also

who knows, driving me nuts.

Cheers guys, I did think top mounts, but ruled those out as those were new when fitting weitecs. However weitecs are over 2 years old and the mounts were GSF, so maybe they are not as good.

Also TT bush at rear of front wishbone and powerflex right at front, again only 2 years old.

I am thinking going for venom poly top mounts as they will give 10mm better clearance to raise car a little to compensate and help ride on collies a little.
