Had the Skoda only 21 months and just found another feature.

If the lighting stalk is on the main position ,and the headlights are then turned on, they come on as dip. To select main beam you need to select dip then main again.

I guess it is to avoid causing dazzle the first time the lights are switched on, but caused a bit of head scratching when in darkness. Apologies to all who knew this.

I believe they have since changed this for the MY11 models. If you switch off the lights the stalk springs back into the dipped position. They probably changed it because too many people were getting confused

Yes you find quite a lot of people trolling around with their main-beams on so I guess it makes sense to try and avoid it.
