first time detail help

Featured Replies

hi, i have owned my 2005 black magic fabia vrs for 3years now and its only ever really had a quick wash, ive noticed alot of swirls in the paint after washing so have been planning buying some products to give it a mini detail. after looking on here and detailingworld ive came up with a little list of products to buy, just wanting ppls opinions on if theres anything esle i need?

is this correct order?

presure wash

snow foam

rinse

hand wash

P1 polish

poorboys black hole glaze

nattys paste wax

 or

Some people do soak the car before snow foaming to help the foam do its job, i don't however as i want the foam to touch the dirt and sticking water on first must put a layer of water over the dirt. Anyway both ways achieve results so have a go at both and see what you think.

I would:

Foam/rinse

wash/rinse

P1 Polish

foam/Rinse to get rid of polish residue

dry

Poorboys Glaze

Wax

so the only difference is a foam/rinse after the polish

I'd add decontamination into the process so:

Foam/rinse

wash/rinse

De-tar

Clay

Rinse/Dry

P1 Polish

foam/Rinse to get rid of polish residue

dry

Poorboys Glaze

Wax

ive never used wax on car before and was looking at the nattys blue wax, will it be best for me to get it in liquid or paste form?

haha to expensive to eat though =] ur not the first person to mention the smell, thanks for ur comments, its helping me decide on my first detailing shopping lost :p

I'd def clay, to be honest your prolly gonna waste your time trying to hand polish. This would mean working 6" squares for about 5mins, twice or three times! I'd suggest just going to the glaze. Then once you've got used to it, get a DA and some pads and polish. VAG is rock hard paint wise, a jap car is another kettle of fish.....

Use a mitt, also some QD to wipe down. I'd use something like Megs 26# or Colly 845IW on black.
