Trip computer black back ground fault.

After a very cold night recently I started up the car only to notice a white "shatter crack" looking mark on the trip computer display, as if the paint or whatever it is had cracked. Over the last few days it has got larger.

Has anyone else had this problem and any ideas how to fix it?
