Power steering problem

Featured Replies

My Felicia 1.9 diesel power assisted steering doesn't seem to work. I've had a look at it and found no fluid in the reservoir. So I topped it back up and started the engine with the cap off, it then started to spill out over the top.

I filled it back up and put the cap back on and started the engine again. This time it spurted out through the safety hole.

My guess is that it's not meant to do this.

Of course it's Saturday afternoon and every mechanic has gone home.

Does anyone seem to know what might be wrong with it? Could it be the actual pump at all?

Cheers

don't know too much-- but since no-one else has piped-up try either jacking the front off the ground or run front wheels onto a couple of glossy magazines --work the steering form lock to lock approx six times keeping an eye on the fluid level if it's air in there it should expel it and need more fluid eventually (when it stopps going down) try starting the engine and give it another couple of goes- don't fill the res' full when cold leave an air space it will expand when hot best of luck :)
