Toyota Auris

Featured Replies

Anyone know anything about them? My Uncle is thinking about buying one but I know nothing about them. Since it's Toyota i'm guessing fairly reliable.

Hi Martyn.

I test drove a SR 180 a while back, if it had 180 bhp then the Octy must have 300....!!!

Very dissapointed, strange interior and small boot.

We had it for a day but left it sitting outside our house for most of the time !

I think they have been updated since my experience & as you say no doubt very reliable but not for me.

My wife had one before her Ds3 for 3 years, very comfortable and roomy, you can move the rear seats back or forward to give you more cabin or boot space, probably moved all the way back for the poster above, you cannot compare an Octavia which is in the mondeo class with an Auris which is in the focus class, v v ti neads working as high geared but very economical at motorway speeds

My dad has the 2.0 diesel. Very, very boring, but probably won't go wrong. He loves it, mum is oblivious and when I've driven it I've been underwhelmed. It's a bit like a washing machine really, it does the job, but there's no character. If your uncle wants a car to get around in, then he'll be very happy. :)

I think petrol is what he's after. Doesn't do enough miles for a diesel

They are what Toyota excel at...........mediocrity for the masses

And the Polo is exciting :giggle:

Who said anything about exciting?

Also, I think that Polo was COY and I don't think the Auris was nominated for reasons any road test you care to read would make obvious

My neighbour is on his second Auris at it's not as reliable as his first, been back to the garage a few times with a recurring problem with the ECU/power steering issues as well I think.

It's not a car I'd even thought about. Guess that goes for most Toyotas. It was just that he passed the dealership on the way to work and liked the look of it. I don't think he needs it to be exciting since my aunty will be driving it most of the time and he's got a bike he uses for fun.

One word summed it up for me when I had one for a week....dull. Dull to drive and dull to live with, own, use, be seen in. I think I've made my point.

My father in law bought a new one in 2009 & other than the recall for the accelerator its been fine, although its only done 6.5k in 2 years! its a petrol & its ok (ish) to drive, nowt flash but ok. A bloke at work has just got the latest hybrid version & its well spec'd but boy was it expensive!

I don't know what coy acronym means , yes it is a mediocre car for wives etc, just find it odd coming from someone who drives a a mediocre Polo

Car of (the) year?

Sat in one before buying the Octy. Nasty scratchy plastics put me off without driving it.

I drove an Avensis T180 and thought the engine was great. Surprised it seemed rubbish in a smaller car.

The Octavia is Golf based. It's the Superb that's 'in the Mondeo class'.

It might be golf based but both the Octy and superb straddle their classes { Octy 8 inches longer than a Focus, and Superb 3 inches longer than a Mondeo

I had a Auris on hire for 5 days in '09 in Ireland, It drove well but the interior while modern in design, was in my opinion a backward step from the last of the Corollas(my dad has 1) and the 1.4 DiD i had was a bit gutless compared to my Fabia....

I drove one years back and only the sporty model had independent rear suspension at the time, the others were all trailing axle (I think that was what it was anyway).

I really didn't get on with it one bit, but that was a long time ago and I would hope they have improved by now.

hi, i sell toyota's for a living, what is it you would like to know? been working with them since the launch of the Auris and driven them all. i'll help out as much as i can for you

Hello, can anyone help please, struggling to find decent priced rear headrest for my 2013 auris (Mk2). Does anyone know from which other model i can use headrests on my car? Thank you for your time.
