Pleasantly surprised at my Insurance Co.

Featured Replies

'Phoned up my insurance company (Elephant) fully expecting proper A*se ache with regards to some mods/changes I'm considering.

First up - take the alloys off, put steelies on for a week and then have the alloys refurbished in a different colour and refitted. Charge would be nothing - zip - nada!

They quoted me a snifter under £90 to change. I'd be a fool not to declare the mod to the insurers, but the price (considering the insurers and a mere 1 years no claims) is rather satisfying :)

Chuffed bunny here!

What was the original bhp of your car then? 130 vrs? And what is it now with a shark remap? :wonder:

Yep - circa 130bhp and the Shark map takes it out to 165bhp, sorry - I meant the 26% plus bracket! Original post edited to stop me looking a numpty....... ;) Oh, and P.S. I haven't fitted the map yet - hopefully later this week/early next!

Cool, I was just interested as I've bought the shark remap, I've noticed loads of companies won't insure if its over 25% power increase. So elephant will then? That's one to keep in mind

Indeed they do. Well, they do for me anyway!

BTW - if you're having trouble with insurance, why not ask Ben at Shark to see if he can peg it back a bit, to 160bhp or something. I'm sure there will be a way you can do it :)

Yeah I was thinking about that :) spot on 25% or just below.. 162.5bhp

I had the same with wheels with Admiral (sister company). 'We're putting steels on for the winter, do you need more mooney?' 'No, we don't cover tyres.' :dull: We did our bit anyway.

If the car was rolling roaded at over 130bhp as standard before could you claim a less than 25% increase then? Just curiuos really.
