Front lights

Featured Replies

All,

I just have ordered a new Skoda Octavia (Elegance) with normal lights (not xenon) but I don't know how they look. I tried to find in internet pictures of Skoda Octavia with normal lights, but without success.

Can anyone send me a picture of a Skoda Octavia with normal headlights?

Thanks,

Edon

Is this any help?

Thanks for the quick reply!

I think they look exactly like xenon lights. Is it possible that normal lights look same as xenon lights from outside?

Very similar - the Octy 2 uses a projector lens if it's xenon of halogen.

Rule of thumb (99% of cases) - look for light washers.

Any car with factory fitted xenons will also have washer units.

Washers are standard on Octy Elegance no matter what headlights are specced- presume this is the exception to prove the rule (of thumb):giggle:

It is possible to tell xenon headlights from standard halogen headlights.

It requires a good eye but if you take a look at the actual dipped headlight projector lense the xenons have a little square opening just next to it.

This allows the projector / beam of light to turn left and right for the AFS II system

The headlight washer's 'rule of thumb' normally works very well but not on the Octavia I'm afraid. As mentioned earlier the Elegance gets them as standard, as does the Scout.

The best way to check is from inside the car. If it is missing the knob for manually adjusting the beam height then you have xenon's (they automatically adjust their height depending on how the vehicle is loaded).

Headlight washer is a shame. I disabled it as every fifth spray on windshield they would activate and spray the hell out of pedestrians in the city when driving slowly.

It should have an option to not activate below 40 mph.
