Anyone had their car steam cleaned?

Featured Replies

There's a guy started coming to where I work doing mobile valeting type thing but instead of a normal wash, he steam cleans the bodywork. Apparently one reason for this is that it uses a lot less water (eco friendly and all that...)

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has ever had this done? Is it any good?

Im guessing high pressure steam against paint cant be a good thing really.

Yeh, that was exactly my gut reaction too. Apparently it's only fairly low pressure...though just how low I couldn't say.

I think he's due in today, so I'll take a peep at the results when he's done

I'd be a bit wary of it loosening stuck-on trim.

Under-body, maybe wheel arches would be an advantage, if in particular you wished to paint under-side of car.emoticon-0112-wondering.gif

There is a place recentley opened in Bristol that use's this method. I don't think I will be spending £15 for an exterior clear of a medium sized car.

I've not seen him about! :)

Plenty of random 'valeters' in the area though emoticon-0112-wondering.gif

I'd steer clear of the steam personally.

Watched him working on a car yesterday in the car park here. He used a bucket and cloth to do the washing and then "hosed" it down with the steam cleaner...only one bucket for the whole car though!

Think I'll give it a miss!

There have been a few posts up about this on DW, doesn't seem to be getting rave reviews but then I guess it does have a USP and people will of course got for it.........
