Styling and modding. Two part question

Featured Replies

Hi all, to save forum space this is a two part question.

Part one, styling:

I need new badges, front and back, I was thinking about going to the the old black and white style or the new style with black and white rather than green. I have taken a look around but I can only find the dome stickers. Do they/does someone make a proper badge of these or is it only the stickers?

And part two, Modding:

Yes, here we go again, remaps.

I have been looking into getting one done and rather than travelling far north, where they all seem to be, I have searched for my area. Two companies have popped up. Seem quite cheap, so I am dubious but still wonder what peoples thoughts are.

Not seen anyone make proper badges, but the ones Pastyboy can get hold of are very good. As for Remaps R-tech do mobile remapping, maybe drop them an email and see if they will pop down your neck of the woods? What about JKM from Portsmouth?

Shark maps are sent through the post, read THIS they are held in high reguard and almost all users of a shark map recommends them

down your neck of the woods, not sure how good they are though.

Yeah I spotted them too. Wasn't keen on the revo map, I don't wan't a too aggressive map. And they haven't really got any info for their steinbauer map.

There is also kartechnic where a little too pricey for a generic map.

Just seen, £500. ouch! upon saying that... If you could use it on more than one car you could do a group for one?

Edited by DBP

The STS doesn't work like that - it's tied to your car once you download the map.

Dang! That would have been good if you could so it between 5 people. £100 each. Sorted.

Hi all, looks like I am going to go for the R-tech map.

I want to get the upgraded DV but which one is best to go for? Is the compbrake as noisy as the 007?

What other bits do I need to check before I go for the remap?

If I go for the R-tech map, for those that have it, am I better off paying for the custom one even though I don't have the exhaust setup?

Yup comp brake is basicly the same as the 007 lol, thats why forge wont let any of their dealers advertise them :giggle:

Compbrake/Vagperformance Valve ordered.

Anything else I need todo?

I have added a 3inch cold air feed and drilled the box, so I don't think I need to worry about a filter so much.

You still might be better off to get a performace filter to replace the standard one.

I used a company called wagon works to do my remap he is huge on t4 scene. Can highly recommend him as this bloke is a vag master mechanic.

Just out of interest... With 144k on the clock, will a map be too much? Until I came along it was well looked after and serviced quite reguarly. Driven by a woman driver by what looks like a company. So I wouldn't say she has had a stressful ownership. I have probably driven it the hardest it has been driven in its life.

Should I be safe - ish?

Yeah, you'll be fine.

The 1.8t is capable of huge mileages if looked after. Just make sure it is well serviced etc. We have seen ones going strong with over 200k on the clock!

What is the comp brake dv pressure rated at as standard?

The forge dv can have the spring changed for different pressure rates.

Just wondering if the compbrake one will handle the pressure after a remap as the 007 needs a updated spring

Hi Damian. out of interest why not consider a REVO. What makes you say they are too aggresive, They are customisable so you ask what you want. If you go REVO 1 that is not aggresive and based on your mods you can't go too aggresive anyway.

I am biased as i have the REVO 2 on mine and has been set a bit aggresive because i can go that way with my mods.

JKM did mine and are great guys also...

Just a thought to throw in the mix..

The comp brake comes with two springs m8 so is adjustable

Well what puts me off about Revo is I have heard they are aggressive rather than smooth maps.

The prices I have seen generally

And the horror stories - There was a vRS on here, don't know if the owner is still on here but I was going to buy his car, unfortunately fell through and that was remapped on Revo and the diff exploded in to the gearbox if I am not mistaken and I have heard a few stories like that from across the VAG range when mapped with Revo.

I looked at JKM but RTechs prices keep drawing me in.

Mine turned up today with just the one fitted. And mine came direct from compbrakes Ebay site.
