Any idea what the April 2011 dealer octavia vrs offers will be please?

I am holding off ordering my new one until Thursday in the hope that the new April deal might be kown by the dealer then with a bit of luck, then I can see which deal is best for me, hopefully....!!!

Don't think it will be better than the current Vat free (20%) off deal.

Just don't do something silly and miss the VAT free offer :)

No, the wife wants to wait but I have told her its unlikely anything will be as good, the dealer has told me that the minimum we would get on FRiday would be 8% unlike the 20% on Thursday, so quite a difference!

Thats my worry totally torn but been assured by dealer that it won't get bettered. They're only doing VAT free to get Tfsi's moving because lead times on diesels are upto 6 months. Where petrol is 10 weeks depending on spec. I thought we might have someone on here on the inside thats why I asked the question

:wonder: :|

I'm not a dealer, I have no relationship with a dealer.

I do not know anyone from Skoda.

However my feeling is that IF there are any deals to be had from 1-4-11 it will just be another extension of the VAT free offer.

I really don't think there will be anything better.

The VAT free offer has really got a lot of people buying - they don't need to discount further.

So worst case, from the 1st you'll see VAT free gone and you'll be back to negotiating discount - probably 8% - 10% max.

Or best case, VAT free will continue a little longer.

Why do people insist in calling it "Vat free"?

Why do people insist in calling it "Vat free"?

Because that is the name that Skoda gave the promotion??

when i was looking at a new car, i had went back to the merc garage where i have had 3 from and they said to me that if the car did not arrive before 31st march then i would not get the vat offer they were offering.

i have orderd my vrs 2 weeks ago which is already built and waiting to arrive. paid deposit.

i reckon the merc guy was saying this to me so i would make the order that day but do you guys know if this is the case?

cheers

Bit of a joke really as its not vat free just a 20% discount you wont ever get away with not paying VAT lol

Oh indeed.

I think most people do read it correctly as "equivalent of VAT Free" as the discount and that you're not actually "not paying any VAT".

Just for the record in case some one does their sums wrong and is then surprised.

It is not, repeat a 20% discount.

Its 20 percent off price but then delivery and other stuff is added on. Regardless I've just got off the phone to Telfords in Carlisle who've give me a decent deal. On a facelift vrs in blue. To replace my blue vrs ii.

Before we go through this all over again....here's a worked example.

Basic car price £10000

VAT is 20% of that = £2000.

Total £12000

but the % discount equivalent to the VAT on the inclusive price is 2000/12000 x 100 = 16.67%

Basically the VAT is 1/5th of the price before tax and hence the discount is 1/6th of the price including tax.

(OTR costs are a separate issue on top of that)

Sorry this is NOT correct.

It should be 16.66% off

If you add 20% on to a price and then take 20% off you do not end up with the figure you started with.

Now try it using 16.66% off

Just fallen asleep!

Going over in the morning, test driving a DSG Touran as my wife has never driven anything that is remotely automatic, and if she gets on OK then will order the DSG if not then it will be a manual.
