If so, am I correct in thinking that it will display only the code and not a description of the fault?

If it does only display the code, I believe there is an Iphone app that translates the codes into descriptions for you (app called "VAG Option Codes")

Can anyone confirm my thoughts?

The "blurb" says that the users manual includes a list of VAG / Audi DTC definitions. So I guess you have to read it with the list in your other hand.

Yes I have the same one,you will get a book with it that shows you all the codes and what they mean...

I do yeh...however this is kind of a family joint venture as we have a few VAG cars that we would like to share the device between, so that's why I have opted for a dedicated device as opposed to software and a laptop to be passed around.

Personally in that case I would get the pukka job then - Ross-Tech HEX+CAN interface which is a whole lot more than just a code reader
