VRS spiders

Featured Replies

Hi have just dropped my VRS spiders off to be power coated. forgot to take the centre caps out! Can anyone tell me the size of them please? is it 58mm? Thanks

ROFLMAO - aint it a small world

I picked my Spiders up from powder coating yesterday, and bought the new caps today. Sitting with the receipt in front of me now.

Not sure of the size, but the part no. is 6U0601151LMHB. £5.83 + VAT = £7.00 each.

How much are you guys paying for your powder coating?

I paid £20 a wheel for my 16" steelies to be powdercoated gloss black.

The centre bore of the wheels is 57mm, so the caps are in that region.

As BJM found, the caps are a bloody rip off!! But they are very shiny when new....

paying £40+ VAT each(16" spiders). thats taking the tyres off, acid bath, power coating, spraying Lacquer. refitting tyres, balancing wheels.

I phoned all over close to where I live, Every body quoting £35 per wheel, but had to have the tyres removed first. I heard glowing reports about this company from a skoda dealer and other garages, so thought would give them a go

Mine was cheap because it was probably the most basic finish, and I supplied just the wheels which were fairly mint anyway.

I'll get some tyres on them one day......

Other peeps on the forum had used them, and I pass them once a week on my delivery run, so killed 2 birds with one tank of company petrol.

The site shows that the £20 offer was to finish end of Jan 2011, but it seems to run more or less constantly - certainly it still is.

I also took the cheapest, basic option, with bare wheels only. TBH the finish isn't concourse standard, but my wheels were pretty badly kerbed and having this done, plus the new caps, has rejuvenated the cars look.

I only ever wanted them to be presentable so am satisfied with the finish.

They actually strip all existing paint, shotblast, hand and linishing belt power sand, plastic coat, bake and lacquer finish.

Anything beyond this level (e.g. alloy weld filling of major scrapess etc.) is extra, and they'll quote seperately.

Stupidly, I forgot to do before / after pics.

mmm, maybe I should see what they can do for my spare set of L&K alloys... or I could just not both and stick my new F452 rubber onto them..... Then I can stick some winter rubbers onto my scuffed Elegance alloys.

Yeah I can recommend them. They've done a load of bits for me and my dad over the years, and for friends projects like vintage bike frames and various beetle and mini parts.

The finish on these steels is excellent.
