New Car

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Hopefully delivery day is getting closer so this is what I have planned for the Fabia vRS (candy white).

Once I get the car home I intend to wash the wheels (black alloys ordered) and seal using Finish Kare 1000P Hi-Temp Sealant.

The main objective is to get to Sept/Oct and then give the car a full detail ahead of the winter.

Until then, I've thought about gradually introducing new cleaning products - I currently just use turtle wax wash (two bucket method) and dry using a drying towel with a bit of megs detailing spray. Last polish was autumn last year.

Proposed reguler schedule until then:-

Snowfoam - Chemical Guys - Maxi Suds II? I will use a hosepipe end sprayer

Pressure rinse

Two bucket method wash using Megs Gold class

Rinse

Dry with a drying towel and megs detailing spray

As it'll soon be the summer I'll need to think about using my Turtle Wax Bug Remover too...

Just before winter sets in I plan to (as above) but

Clay (decission to be made at the time)

polish - Meguiars Ultimate Compound

Wax - Nattys White

So, hopefully I've understood enough of the threads here (on washing, detailing, etc. - thankyou!) but one daft question I have: what cloths etc. should I use on say the wheels to apply the sealent? Also for the windows (I use another Turtle wax prodcut for this Clearvue glass cleaner).

I plan to use my drying towel and wash mit for the washing process.

Thanks for reading!

Carl

............hosepipe end sprayer which ones?????????????? .........im after some too...........

You say you are going to pressure rinse it, I presume you have a pressure washer right?

If so, you should really consider a snow foam lance as opposed to the hose end attachments, you will get much, much better foam through the pressure washer.

Indeed I have - I was just being a bit tight fisted with the cash to be honest :giggle: But as I have never 'snow foamed' before, it just seemed a cheaper introduction...

I see you recently ordered lots of detailing stuff - are you getting on ok with it?

The foam will be a bit pointless out of a hose pipe, won't really 'stick' to the car as such. I'd definitely recommend a proper lance, plus it is great fun to do as well!

And yeah, spent all afternoon yesterday at it! Arm was knackered afterwards haha :D

It is very good to see the end result though.

.........anyone recomend a good pressure washer???

I bought the hose end adaptor a couple of weeks ago with a container of Snofoam. I do live in an area with high mains water pressure, and the foam I am producing is quite acceptable, is sticking to the car and you can see it remove the dirt. Even after rinsing, and before cleaning using 2BM the car looks good. 2BM does still show that lots of dirt is left on the car.

I might consider getting a snofoam lance for my Karcher in future but at the moment the hose end is fine.

Ah right, fair enough :)

Yeah, round our end a hose pipe attachment would be pretty pointless :D

The best value pressure washer and used by Detailing World Members, is the Nilfisk 110

Buy from Srewfix, Argos or Amazon
