Why would this happen?

Featured Replies

I got in my car tonight (Superb 1.8T Comfort) when I started it up I noticed that computer display had changed from mph and mpg to kmh and l/100k. The top part of the display that displays the radio station was also displaying in red dots instead of orange like the rest of the display.

Half an hour later, I started the car again and it was all back to normal.

Two things are now bugging me:

1) Why would this happen?

2) Is it a symptom of something more serious? I've already dealt with the water issue i.e. cleared the plenum chamber, silicone sealed the pollen filter and rewired all the footwell electrics so I'm hoping it isn't connected.

Anyone any experience of the same problem?

It's a glitch, it comes and goes with door slamming etc, you may find the car icon changes to a Sharan shape as well, nothing to worry about it will clear itself.

It was a known issue with the software in the dash insert iirc, replacement dash inserts were issued for it.
