fan control module

Right so i have realised my big cooling fan is dead. It never spins and wnt spin when auto is selected on the climate control. I had a poke about this afternoon at the module and tryed swaping the conectors over but the wires were to short to swap over. I didn't want to break anything else so i cleaned up the connectrs etc spuirted wd40 in about the module.

Still nothing fan won't spin. What is it that causes the fans to spin? Does the module control this is this what is fecked? Or is it the indidvidual motor. I am a bit confussed. I have already replaced the rad switch on the side of the rad and also my cts.
