Hi guys,

My parents have an Octavia Elegance (2.0TDi PD140, 55 plate, estate). We've noticed that with the climate control running at low speeds - fan setting of 2/7 - it's recently started making a pulsing metallic grating/whirring noise - a bit like the Tardis, but more "rattly" than "scrapey". Driving at higher revs (over 2250 or so), or at higher speeds (50mph) drowns it out with engine/road noise, as does running the fans on or near full-blast. However, at lower speeds or revs, it's fairly audible even in the back and a bit maddening after a while (not good, as my dad is a gentle driver!). Just been on a 90-minute trip with it running both ways, and it's a bit annoying! Turning the climate control off completely makes it go away, although this can take a few seconds (count to 10).

The had a new turbo under warranty about 2 months ago, and I've never heard it before that. Not sure if it's a coincidence or not, so I thought I'd mention it.

Any ideas?

Thanks - I hadn't seen that. I will try it, although the noise I'm hearing is more of the Tardis operation noise - a pulsing raspy metallic rattle/whir, rather than a clicking noise. Still, hopefully the reset fix will work!

Strange (and annoying) how it's just started doing it though ...

EDIT: I should have added, the AC does blow both hot and cold, as appropriate.
