Pioneer AVH-3200DVD 5.8''

Featured Replies

will a Pioneer AVH-3200DVD 5.8''screen (double din) fit in a fabia vrs limited edition?

if anyone has fitted anything of a similar size it would be much appreciated before i buy,

thanks.

Yes, I believe so.

I have just fitted an AVH-3300BT in my Fabia, which is basically the same unit but with Bluetooth. They have just replaced the 3200DVD and 3200BT with the 2300DVD and the 3300BT. There is hardly any difference, but if you can get one of the more modern units you may as well.

They fit fine, but it's a tight squeeze to get the cage in. I ended up using a lot of brute force!

You will need part number 6Y0857231B41 which is £4 inc VAT from Skoda/TPS (http://www.theskodashop.co.uk/product/Fabia_%3E07_Radio_Facia_Adaptor%2C_when_Non-Genuine_Headunit_is_fitted_6Y0857231B41)

If you listen to AM/MW radio, wou will also need an adapter to activate the car's in-built amplifier - http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=9861

If you only listen to FM like me, then all you need is one of these little jobbies - http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=9855

To make your life easier when fitting, you can pop off the trim for the ac/blower controls. Just put your fingers underneath and pull it forward, it should clip off.

In order to watch video while on the move, you will need to ground the handbrake wire at the back. The easiest thing is to ground it to the bolt which is accessible by removing the glove box.

Here are some pics of my install:

The unit itself is pretty good. I looked at a lot of units before settling on this one...

Here's what I like:

  • Customizable background, custom button illumination and flush fit gives a very OEM look
  • Excellent sound quality, even with standard speakers. It does a great job of making compressed MP3s sound great.
  • Bluetooth integration is superb, and call quality is excellent
  • DVD player is kind-of-cool but just a gimmick for me really. I can imagine it might be useful if you connect up rear head-rest screens

Here's what I don't like:

  • No removable face-plate or anti-theft measures of any kind
  • No playlist support using USB/SD card
  • The USB port is on the front (who wants wires hanging out of their dash?!)
  • The menu system is badly designed in places (although it's better than all the others I tried!)
  • I would prefer a rotary control for volume than 2 digital buttons.

All in all, I am happy with it though and would recommend the unit...

Hope that all helps!!!!
