Strange stereo issue

Featured Replies

Last night at around 4am I woke up and could hear music playing. Then my car alarm went off. When I went to my car the stereo had turned itself on, selected a song from the SD card (I had been listening to the radio the last time I was in the car) and was playing at a higher volume than I would usually. I think this is the first time this has happened but you never know. Has anyone had a similar thing happen?

Not quite the same but if I leave a card in the SD slot it will start playing a random track even though I'm listening to the radio.

Yes. Had exactly the same a few times. The last time was in a cul-de-sac at about midnight and I thought there was a party with some good music on somewhere. Poked my head out of the door to see where and realised it was my car. Always eject the SD card now, but the car's in at the delaer's tomorrow so will ask them about a software update. Otherwise, I think it might be the card reader contacts expanding/contracting with heat as the unit plays when an SD card is inserted i.e. card reader makes contact.

GF' s Golf had a similar issue. Radio switched itself on after the car was locked up, 10-15 mins or so. It did this unless a CD was loaded into the unit. It was a known fault with Golf radios so was swapped out by the dealer.

You might have something with the contact of the SD card. As a test I got in the car and unplugged and then plugged the SD card in the solt. When it was plugged in the Bolero turned on and started playing (no key in ignition etc). So it would certainly appear that something about the SD card breaking and making contact could explain the issue.
