Changing all CV Boots

Featured Replies

Yesterday when I was installing new chinese TIP(sucked, mayby will go back to OEM), I noticed a crack in inner CV boot, right side. Earlier I had noticed that leftside outer boot was tigheted with zip-tie and some grease had escaped.

So, now I'm thinking to replace all boots.

-Any tips? 1-2-3-steps?

-Any special tools required?

-Can both axles be taken out at same time?

-Should I just take axles out and take 'em to dealer to change boots with some fancy tools?

-Big hammer and lots of cigarettes?

I have hydraulic press and claw-pullers available at work, and can fabricate some specials if needed...

Only had to change 1 CV-boot in my life 10years ago in to a mazda, and don't remember anything from that :giggle:

Done a few vag cv boots in past couple of years and didnt need any special tools,

Vrs hubs are easy enough to strip altho driveshafts are tight in hub even with bolt off or mine were,

I just find cv boots messy to do apart from that there not to bad
