Amstrad Emailer

Featured Replies

Hi All

Anyone got one of these? Is it easy enough to use?

I have an elderly relative who's deaf as a post and he wants to be able to send and receive SMS text messages. Incredibly, where he lives there is no reception from any mobile network  but mainly I like this phone for him because it has a proper size fold-out qwerty keyboard and a big screen.

Given that he's probably only going to use the SMS text facility i.e. not email or internet, is there an alternative/better solution? Any suggestions appreciated :)

For that purpose it is probably a very decent choice.

There may be other alternatives, possibly worth checking out a site for the hard of hearing to get more tailored advise on this.

Also, there are some boxes you can connect to your TV which may have this type of functionality, although they are probably more email-based.

... like this, if its just for sending SMS messages. 10p per message though, and I don't know how that compares price-wise to the Emailer.

You can receive SMS on BT if you have caller ID (there may be some other criteria too) and you can send them too if you have a compatible handset. But no QWERTY keyboard...

Since it's only
