FOR SALE - Xbox 360 Console - £50

Featured Replies

Hi All

Ok straight to the point here - this console is cheap because it is a bit ill.

The console was sent to me by Microsoft approx 5 years ago as a replacement for my original console in which the disc drive packed up. Since then it has performed flawlessly until very recently when it started overheating.

Coincidentally just after the other half bought and used Kinect! I blame it (& her) for overloading it :) :'(

The fault is only 2 red lights (not the much reported 3 lights of death)and is also highly intermittent.

Sometimes you can get a couple of hours play before it overheats and turns off.

Sometimes it'll turn on, get to the dashboard, then it'll overheat and switch itself off.

Sometimes it won't even switch on overheating immediately and powering itself down.

Console is well out of warranty so M$ don't wanna know so i've split removed the case and opened the contests up to remove the dust to see if that helped but even with no covers on it'll still powerdown due to overheating.

Console will come with the relevant AV cable (console is an old non-HDMI version) and the power block and cable.

Console case was removed and sprayed black by me to blend in better with the rest of my black entertainment equipment but the cover for the front USB slots broke off years ago.

It should be an easy fix for someone prepared to take the motherboard apart and do the relevant updates to the chips and heatsink and improve the cooling.

Looking for £50 ono

Any questions let me know

This would be a great project for anyone - Loads of information/guides etc out there on how to fix this issue.

If anyone does buy this and requires any help, please do feel free to PM me.

Hope this helps,

With complete kits being about a fiver from eBay i'm taking this on myself.

Hoepfully will sort the issues and continue a fresh

(which would be nice as PC World seems to have lost the stock they had when i ordered my new console online!)

I did one of these a couple of years back and I'm a DIY idiot :)

It's not too bad really, actually quite good fun when you get to the cooking stage right at the end emoticon-0148-yes.gif

However i still get 2 red lights whenever i switch it on it just powers down instantly

properly fed up with it now!

That said PC World have found the stock that they had when i ordered then didn't have when I phoned and my new console is on the way.
